This year marks Magellan Aviation Group’s 25th anniversary—and for Niall Duggan, it also marks over two and a half decades of dedication to the aviation aftermarket industry. Niall’s journey began in 1997 with AGES Shannon, prior to Magellan’s formation. As Financial Controller for the Irish and UK divisions, he was already shaping the financial foundation of what would soon evolve into Magellan. In 2001, following the sale of AGES Shannon by Volvo, Niall and the rest of the AGES Shannon team joined the newly formed Magellan Aviation Group alongside a group of former colleagues, laying the groundwork for what would become our EMEA headquarters.

Since then, Niall has been an integral part of Magellan’s growth, taking on the role of Managing Director in 2013. He’s led our EMEA operations through tremendous change, guiding through industry headwinds, supporting the development of high-performing teams, and playing a pivotal role in bringing Marubeni on board as a partner and eventual owner. It’s that blend of strategy and leadership that defines Niall’s tenure. “It’s satisfying to have recruited people who have stayed and built successful careers here,” he reflects. “The team’s diversity of skills is what makes it so rewarding.”

Looking back, Niall credits the resilience and ingenuity of the company as a whole when navigating aviation’s many global disruptions—from financial crises to the pandemic. “The company has come a long way,” he says, “from two half-empty warehouses to a global leader in USM.”

Outside the office, Niall enjoys hitting the golf course and supporting Manchester United—though he jokes that both passions have recently brought more humility than glory. Still, he finds joy in the balance between family, fun, and a career built on consistency, vision, and trust.

His advice to new team members? “It can be challenging, but it’s incredibly rewarding for anyone willing to show initiative and flexibility. We work in a great industry—just be sure to have some fun along the way.”
